The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get togetheriust like Christmas in the West.
The Spring Festival falls on the lstday of the lst lunar month, often onemonth later than the Gregoriancalendar. It originated in the ShangDynasty(c.1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) fromthe people's sacrifice to gods andancestors at the end of an old yearand the beginning of a new one.
